Fun Golf Tournament a Fundraising Success

More than seventy golfers came out to play the spectacular North Course at Eastlake Woodlands Country Club to raise money for the Chi Chi Rodriguez Foundation this past Saturday.  Beautiful weather and an immaculate golf course provided the backdrop for the Annual Safety Harbor & Dunedin Waterside Rotary Golf Tournament.  Golfers bought Mulligan’s, participated in games of skill, and bought chances to win prizes – all aimed at contributing to Chi Chi’s.

At the banquet, Rotary Club Presidents Jonathan Brewer and Mike Lazanis presided at a lively live auction of donated items such as foursomes at Countryside Country Club and Eastlake Woodlands Country Club, stays at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, an aerial tour of Tampa Bay, Red Bamboo Spa gift certificate and spa package, an original landscape painting and many others.  This tournament was more successful than last year’s thanks to our golfing supporters and many sponsors.  We are grateful for their efforts.

Eight grade student Julian Sevilla of the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy, the Suncoast Boys & Girls Clubs Junior Youth of the Year, helped out with the silent auction and distributed gifts to winners.  Speaking at the banquet, Julian wowed the crowd with his poise and maturity as he discussed the positive self-esteem and personal growth he has experienced through the help of his teachers and mentors at the Academy.  Julian is the living example of what is possible through hard work and the chance at a good education.

Golfers and Rotarians can take pride in helping to fund this wonderful school.
