Kelly Nelson, Board member of huddleintheharbor.org spoke today at the weekly Rotary meeting. Huddle in the Harbor is a nonprofit where 100% of incoming funding and donations goes toward helping women in need. They provide Educational grants, healthcare funding assistance, period products, individual scholarships and emergency assistance. As Kelly explained, the need in North Pinellas is great! HH has already awarded $4,823 since 2017 and has another $4,500 pending distribution. One program particularly helpful is scholarships toward Certified Nursing Assistant Training so women can move up to a higher-paying job and improve their lives and the lives of their children. ... Countryside High's Interact Club wrapped loads of gifts for 15 children of Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center in Safety Harbor who might otherwise not have Christmas gifts. Not only did these high school volunteers shop for the children with donated dollars, they also organized and wrapped the gifts so the families with children would have surprises under their tree (or in their living room) this year. Rotary members Denise and Wayne Mineo and family ran the show at the First Baptist Church of Safety Harbor for a delightful Thanksgiving Meal served to the elderly in our community. The Countryside High School Interact Club did a very professional job taking custom orders, serving over 60 meals, seating (and helping up) the participants, handing out goody bags and cleaning at the end. The delicious meal consisted of a choice of white or dark meat, gravy, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and apple pie!
